Kipture Primary School                                          Kitchen and Library Foundation

P.O. Box 4184, Englewood, CO   80155

We want to thank everyone for their donations during 2006! The library has electricity thanks to DHL shipping the BKB generator. The computers are operational, the books, and school supplies are now all safely in the hands of the children of Kipture Primary School.

Once again, Harry Hail, now a board member of the foundation, made a generous donation enabling the kitchen to be built almost to completion under the close supervision of Peter Tanui's brother, Joseph.

An additional and very generous donation was made by Tom Ratcliffe and his agency, KIMBIA Athletic Management. These individual contributions have literally put the roof on the new kitchen!

Additionally, Mike Ducy, CEO of The End Result Company, donated and is hosting the new web site, www.kiptureschool.org. This selfless contribution will enable us to continue to learn more and more of the progress of the project!

As a matter of history, in January of 2003, and again in February of 2005 several Americans went to Kenya with Peter Tanui to visit his home, Kapsabet Kenya. This is a fairly remote and basic village, with most of the 5,000 residents without electricity or water, about 6 hours west of Nairobi. Everyone fell in love with the people and the culture. Before they left on the first visit, the framework for a Foundation was sketched out. The simple goal was to build a library and a kitchen for the school.

With that almost a reality in three years, our goal is to enhance both buildings and to raise funds for the electrification of the community where the children reside.

Peter Tanui, a friend and graduate of Kipture Primary School, is the President of this Foundation and lives most of each year in Boulder, Colorado. He and board member Andy McLean will take new funds to Kenya at the end of 2006 and update all of us with images and photos to chart the progress!
